Reusable pieces of a site: what a component is, content sections and items, and when to build one.

Last updated September 2, 2026

A component is a piece of a page built once and used in many places — a services grid, a testimonial band, a call to action, a team section.

Components and their content

PieceWhat it is
ComponentThe reusable structure.
Content sectionA grouping of content within it.
Content itemsThe individual entries — each card in a grid, each item in a list.

When to build one

  • The same block appears on three or more pages.
  • It changes regularly, and you do not want to edit it in six places.
  • It has to be identical everywhere — a legal note, a set of accreditations.

Building a component for something used once is more work than it saves. Wait until the second or third use.

Tribes and components

Tribes have their own components list too, so a location can have pieces that are genuinely theirs — their team, their premises — alongside the shared ones.

CHANGING A COMPONENT CHANGES EVERY PAGE USING IT
That is the point, and it is also the risk. Before editing one, check where it is used — an edit that suits the home page may read oddly on the eight service pages that also carry it.
