Cards and bank accounts
Saving a payment method, which one gets used, and why a card is tied to one tribe.
Last updated September 2, 2026
A member's saved payment methods live on their Payment Methods tab. You can Add Card there, or ask the member to add their own.
More than one, in order
A member can have several. One is marked Primary, and collection tries them in order — if the first is declined it moves to the next, so a backup card genuinely helps. Use Make Primary to change which leads.
What you will see
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Expires MM / YY | The card expiry. Worth watching — an expired card is a guaranteed failure. |
| Bank debit | A bank account rather than a card. |
| Verification pending | A bank account that is not usable yet. |
Cards belong to a tribe
Each tribe collects into its own payment gateway account, so a card saved against one tribe cannot be charged by another. Moving a member between tribes means asking for their details again.
No gateway, no card box
If the tribe has no payment gateway connected, the card form is replaced by a notice saying the credit card payment gateway has not been configured. That is a setup task, not a fault with the member.
Removing one
Remove deletes a saved method and asks you to confirm — it is permanent. Removing the only card leaves the member uncollectable, so add the replacement first.
