Managing Tribes

Calling tribes something else

Renaming them to Stores or Offices, and an honest account of how far the rename actually reaches.

Last updated September 2, 2026

In your organisation's general settings, under Tribe Settings, set Tribe Name Single and Tribe Name Plural to whatever your network calls a location — Store and Stores, Office and Offices, Clinic and Clinics.

Set expectations before you announce it

THE RENAME DOES NOT REACH THE TRIBES SCREENS THEMSELVES
The whole Tribes area — creating a tribe, tribe types, tribe groups, the status summary, the settings screens — keeps saying "Tribe" whatever you set here. Your word appears in Support Tickets, in the customer portal and in the AI assistant's replies, and that is about it. Do not tell your network the product now says Stores everywhere, because it does not.

In practice the most useful thing you can do is explain the word once in your own onboarding material — "we call them tribes in the system, they are our stores" — which is what the Help Centre does.

The advisor label works better

The neighbouring Operations Advisor Label is honoured properly. Set it to Business Coach, Franchise Manager, Area Manager or whatever you use, and it appears on the tribe list column, the bulk update menu, the tribe groups screen, tribe settings, the dashboard and the organisation chart.

LEAVE THE ADVISOR LABEL BLANK AND A COLUMN HEADING DISAPPEARS
The tribe list uses it directly with no fallback, so an empty setting produces an unlabelled column. If you do not use advisors, set it to something sensible anyway rather than clearing it.

Other labels you can set

The same settings section lets you rename what you call your contacts — a People Label and an Organisation People Label — so a network that says Clients or Patients can have the product say so in the places that honour it.
