The email asking you to check your contact details
What the "Please check your contact details" email is for, how to fill in the form, and what happens when the address you want to use already has a Gorilla Dash login.
Last updated September 10, 2026
From time to time the organisation you work for will email you a short form headed Check your contact details. It is sent through Gorilla Dash, the software your organisation uses to run its marketing, enquiries and internal messages, and it exists for one practical reason: if the name, email address and mobile number held for you are wrong, enquiries and alerts meant for you go somewhere else, or nowhere at all.
Opening the form
The email shows the details currently held for you and a button marked Check my details. If your email program will not open the button, there is a plain web address printed underneath it that you can copy into your browser instead. Both go to the same place.
The link is unique to you and does not ask you to sign in, so you can finish it on a phone without looking up a password. Because it is a private link, it does not last forever: it stops working 30 days after it was sent, and once you have submitted it, it stays open for a further 24 hours in case you spot a typo and want to correct it. After that it shows Link no longer available.
What to fill in
- First name and Last name — required.
- Email address — on some links this can be changed and on others it cannot. The next two sections explain why.
- Mobile Number — required. Choose the country first, then type the number the way you would dial it at home. This is the number used for text alerts and internal messages, and on most records it is the detail that is missing.
- Telephone — optional. A desk or landline number.
- Position — optional. Your job title.
If you are told the number is not valid, check the country shown beside it before you change the digits. A perfectly good number is rejected when it is being checked against the wrong country.
When you choose Save my details the form confirms what has been recorded. Your password is never part of this, and nothing you submit changes how you sign in.
Why the email address is sometimes locked
If you already sign in to Gorilla Dash, the address held for you is the address you sign in with, so the form shows it greyed out. Changing it there would change your login, which is not something a link sent by email should be able to do. Change it from My Account → My Details instead, where the new address is verified before it takes effect — see Your details and profile.
If the form lets you edit the address, the record it belongs to has no login behind it, and the address on it is very often a shared mailbox for the whole tribe — a tribe is one location, branch or business unit inside your organisation. That is exactly the case the form is asking about: enter your own address so messages reach you rather than a mailbox several people watch.
If the address you enter already has a Gorilla Dash login
This is common, and it is not a mistake on your part. Many people are listed twice: once as an account they sign in with, and once as a team member record at a tribe, which is the one the shared mailbox is attached to. When you put your own address into the form, Gorilla Dash recognises it as a login and takes an extra step rather than simply accepting it.
Your name and phone numbers are saved straight away — there is nothing to fill in again. The address on the record is held back, and the account is asked to confirm. To finish it:
- Sign in to Gorilla Dash with that email address. If you have forgotten the password, use Forgot password on the sign-in page.
- Open your notifications. You will have one saying that your organisation has added you as a team member. The same request is also emailed to you.
- Choose Accept.
The team member record is then linked to your account, and from that point your organisation uses the address on your account when it needs to reach you.
If you would rather not sign in, ask an administrator at your organisation to link your team member record to your Gorilla Dash account for you. They can do this from the team member list without you doing anything further.
If the address is already used by somebody else
An address can only sit on one team member record, so if a colleague already has the one you entered, the form says so and keeps the address as it was. Your name and phone numbers are still saved. This usually means there are two records for the same person, or that an address was typed onto the wrong record — either way, an administrator at your organisation needs to sort it out.
If the link has expired
You will see Link no longer available. Nothing is wrong with your details; the link has simply passed the point where it can still be used. Ask your organisation to send you a new one. If you have a Gorilla Dash login, you can also sign in and update your own details from My Account → My Details without waiting.
