Linking sales and quotes to opportunities

The three linking modes, what each one does, and how the linked value affects the deal.

Last updated September 2, 2026

Your point of sale records what customers actually bought. The CRM records what you were trying to sell them. Linking the two closes the loop: you can see whether the pipeline turned into revenue rather than just growing.

The three modes

ModeWhat happens
OffSales and opportunities stay separate. Sales still show on the account.
ManualYour team links a quote or sale to the deal it belongs to, by hand.
AutomaticAI groups quotes and sales into opportunities for you.

The mode is set once for the organisation in CRM Settings.

Linking by hand

On an opportunity, search your unlinked quotes and sales and link the right one. Where several are linked, one is marked as the chosen order — and only the chosen one counts towards the opportunity's value, so a quote that was revised three times does not triple the deal.

Which mode to pick

  • Off if your sales rarely map onto individual deals — high-volume retail, for instance.
  • Manual if you have a few large deals a month. It is quick, and it is always right.
  • Automatic if the volume makes hand-linking unrealistic, and you can live with occasional mistakes.
AUTOMATIC IS A GUESS, AND SHOULD BE CHECKED
AI grouping matches quotes and sales to deals on the evidence available. Spot-check the links on your largest accounts for the first month before you report on the results.
