Managing Tribes

Tribe groups

Organising tribes into a hierarchy, the groups that build themselves, and what overwrites your manual changes.

Last updated September 2, 2026

Tribe groups arrange your tribes into a tree — by region, by advisor, by performance, by anything you like. They are what you scope a custom dashboard to, and how you filter the tribe list.

Building one by hand

Press Add Group, give it a name and description, optionally assign an advisor, and choose the tribes. Use Add Sub Group on a row to nest one inside it.

  • Groups nest four levels deep at most.
  • Two groups under the same parent cannot share a name.
  • Maximum Tribes caps the group's size; leave it empty for unlimited.
  • Selecting a parent anywhere in the product includes every tribe beneath it.
DELETING A GROUP DELETES EVERYTHING UNDER IT
Removing a parent takes all its sub-groups with it. The confirmation does say so — read it before agreeing. The tribes themselves are untouched.

Groups that build themselves

The Generate menu creates whole trees for you and keeps them up to date daily:

GenerateWhat you get
From advisor groupsA sub-group per advisor, from the advisor set on each tribe.
From states / provincesA sub-group per state, from each tribe's address.
New tribesTribes opened in the last 12 months.
Top / bottom tribe salesThe best and worst performers over the last 12 months.
Increasing / decreasing salesTribes ahead of and behind last year.

They are opt-in — nothing is generated until you ask for it once. After that they refresh every day.

Do not hand-edit a generated group

THE OVERNIGHT REFRESH REPLACES THE MEMBERSHIP
Adding a tribe by hand to a generated group works until the next morning, when the group is rebuilt from its rule and your addition disappears. Renaming or moving the group is safe — only the membership is replaced. If you need a fixed list, build your own group instead.

How the sales groups pick

  • Only Active tribes are ranked.
  • Tribes with no sales in the window are left out altogether, so the bottom group is worst-selling rather than not-selling.
  • The default size is 20 per group, adjustable with Maximum Tribes.
  • Increasing and decreasing skip anywhere with no figures for the year before.
SETTING THE TOP GROUP TO UNLIMITED EMPTIES THE BOTTOM ONE
The bottom group is filled from whatever the top group did not take. Remove the cap on the top and it takes everything, leaving the bottom permanently empty. Keep both capped.

Not the same as Reports tribe groups

The Reports module has its own, unrelated, flat list also called Tribe Groups. The hierarchical ones described here are the ones under Tribes, and they are the ones custom dashboards use.
