Creating the account: linking to a person or a vendor, choosing the tribe, and what happens next.

Last updated September 2, 2026

Go to Members / Subscribers and press Create. The form is titled Create New Member / Subscriber and takes you through it in steps.

What you choose

  1. Tribe — which location this member belongs to, or leave it blank for an organisation-level member.
  2. Type — Member or Vendor.
  3. For a vendor: Link this membership to an existing vendor (with Search Vendors) or Create a new vendor.
  4. For a member: Link this membership to an existing person or Create a new person.

Linking to an existing person is almost always right — it keeps the membership attached to the contact record your team already uses, rather than creating a second version of the same human being.

The tribe decides where the money goes

GET THE TRIBE RIGHT FIRST TIME
The tribe determines which payment gateway collects and which tribe the revenue is reported against. Moving a member later leaves their saved card behind, because cards belong to a tribe's own gateway account.

Creating the member does not bill anybody

A member is just the account. Nothing is charged until you add a package to it — that is the next step.

Business name

A member can carry a Business Name as well as a person, which is what you want when the paying entity is a company but the contact is an individual. Both are shown in the members list.
