Understanding Your Bill

Metered usage and who pays for it

Reading the usage screen, the four charge arrangements, and the discount for organisation-wide payment.

Last updated September 2, 2026

The Metered Usage screen shows everything charged by consumption, what each costs, and who is paying. It has a Settings tab for the arrangements and a Usage tab for the numbers.

What gets metered

Filter by AI, Commerce, Marketing and External Services. Between them: text and picture messages, phone number rental, email sends above your allowance, AI, store orders, branded stores, review syncing and the CRM contact lookups.

Each row shows this month, last month, anything included free, and the rate — and expands to show which tribes used it.

Who pays

ArrangementWhat it means
Organisation paysFor things that only exist at organisation level.
Organisation pays for all tribesHead office absorbs it — and gets a 30% discount for doing so.
Each tribe pays for its own usageThe cost lands on the tribe that used it.
DisabledUsage is still recorded but never charged.
THE DISCOUNT IS REAL AND VISIBLE
Charges are billed at full price with the saving shown as its own negative line, so you can see exactly what the arrangement saved you rather than having to take it on trust.

Allowances pool when the organisation pays

Some items include a free allowance per tribe. Under Organisation pays for all tribes those allowances are pooled across the network instead of being held per tribe — so a busy tribe can use a quiet one's headroom.

Changing the arrangement is not a small decision

ANYONE WHO CAN SEE THIS SCREEN CAN CHANGE WHO PAYS
Switching from Organisation pays for all tribes to Each tribe pays moves real cost onto your tribes, loses the 30% discount and stops the allowances pooling. It takes effect from the next billing run. Make sure your team knows the switch is live rather than a reporting preference.

The numbers are live

Usage is counted as it happens, and the screen, the export and the eventual charge all use the same figures. The exceptions are the monthly items — number rental and store fees are recorded on the 1st, and email sends settle on the 2nd.

Exporting

The Usage tab exports to a spreadsheet with a date range, category, tribe and search, giving you item, category, units and estimated cost. Costs shown are estimates at current rates and exclude tax.
