Creating a branded store

Setting a new store up from scratch, the order to do it in, and cloning one you have already built.

Last updated September 2, 2026

Stores are created from the branded stores list in your tribe. Name it after the client, because that is how you and they will refer to it for years.

The order that avoids rework

  1. Settings — the basics, and how orders are paid for and approved.
  2. Categories — before products, so each product is filed as you add it.
  3. Products — with their options and prices.
  4. Pages — the home page and anything else, once there is something to show.
  5. Style — the client's colours and logo.
  6. Access and users — who is allowed in.
  7. Shipping — rates, countries or pick-up points.
  8. Place a test order yourself before handing it over.

Cloning an existing store

Most stores you build resemble the last one. Clone copies an existing store — you choose what comes across — so a new client starts from a working shop rather than an empty one.

A CLONE CARRIES THE LAST CLIENT WITH IT
Prices, product names, page copy and email messages all come from the store you copied. Work through the settings and the pages before anyone sees it — another client's name in a confirmation email is the sort of thing that gets noticed.

Before you hand it over

  • Place a real order end to end, including payment, with live payment mode off.
  • Check the order emails say what you want them to say.
  • Open the storefront on a phone.
  • Confirm the client's administrators can sign in and see their orders.
