Choosing who appears on the board
Board members: the people who get a column when the board is grouped by person.

When the board is grouped by person, each board member gets a column. Board members are chosen deliberately rather than being everyone in the organisation — forty columns is not a board.
Who to include
- People who actually carry projects.
- Not everyone who might occasionally help on one — they can still be contributors.
- Keep it to a number of columns that fits on a screen.
What it is good for
Grouped by person, the board answers the question a manager actually has: is the work spread sensibly? One column stacked while another is empty is visible in a second, and it is the conversation worth having at a weekly catch-up.
Keeping it current
Update the list when people join or leave the team. A column for somebody who left is a column of projects nobody is doing — which is exactly the thing the board exists to show you.
