Account Access
Setting up two factor authentication
Adding a second step to your sign-in with an authenticator app, and what changes afterwards.
Last updated September 2, 2026
Two factor authentication asks for a six-digit code from your phone as well as your password. It is the single most effective thing you can do to protect an account, because a stolen password is no longer enough on its own.
Setting it up
- Install an authenticator app on your phone if you do not have one — Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator and 1Password all work.
- In Gorilla Dash open My Account → My Password and choose Configure Two Factor Authentication.
- Scan the code shown with your authenticator app.
- Enter the six-digit code the app gives you to confirm the pairing.
- Save your recovery codes somewhere safe. This is the step people skip and regret.
What changes
From then on, signing in asks for your code after your password. You can choose to skip the code on a device for the next 30 days — convenient on your own laptop, and something to leave unticked on anything shared.
Turning it off
It can be switched off from the same screen, unless your organisation requires it. Think twice: an account with access to your customer database is worth the extra three seconds.
