Asking a member for their payment details

Sending a secure link so the member enters their own details, and reading the status afterwards.

Last updated September 2, 2026

You should never be taking bank details down over the phone. The Request Bank Details card on a member's Payment Methods tab emails them a secure link so they enter their own.

Sending it

Choose the Payment method, set Send to, and press Send Request. The member gets a page headed Set up your payment details saying your business has asked them to set up bank payments, with a Connect bank account button.

Why it is bank accounts

A direct debit authority has to come from the account holder, which is exactly what this link achieves. For a card, the activation link on the Packages tab or a card entered on the Payment Methods tab does the job.

COLLECTION RUNS IMMEDIATELY
Adding a payment method triggers a collection attempt straight away rather than waiting for the overnight job — and it charges the whole outstanding balance. Tell a member with arrears what to expect before you send the link.
