Error: The article field must be plain text (HTML not allowed in Standard posts)
Standard posts are now plain-text only and will reject HTML tags. If you need HTML formatting, switch the post to Formatted before saving, and avoid document-level tags.

Overview
If you see the error "The article field must be plain text and must not contain HTML tags" when creating a post, the editor is set to Standard, which now only accepts plain text.
Why this happens
To prevent formatting issues across website pages, weekly digest emails, and social media posts, the Standard text window no longer allows HTML.
How to resolve
- Keep it plain text: Remove all HTML tags (for example: p, span, a, img, h2, strong, h3) and save as a Standard post.
- Use HTML formatting:
- Paste your formatted content into the text window.
- Change the post type from Standard to Formatted before saving.
- Save your post.
Tag guidance
- Do not include document-level tags such as: html, head, meta, title, style, script, doctype.
- When saved as Formatted, common content tags such as h1, h2, p, and img are accepted.
