Testing and going live

Test mode, the go-live decision, and the checks worth making before real customers enter a workflow.

Last updated September 2, 2026

A workflow can be saved as a draft, run in test mode, or made live. Only the last one sends anything to a customer.

Test mode

With test mode on, the workflow runs without reaching real customers, and the screen tells you it is on. Use it to watch the sequence behave — the waits, the conditions, the branches — before anybody real is in it.

The go-live checklist

  1. Read every email and text in order, as a customer receives them.
  2. Check the trigger. How many people meet it in a normal month?
  3. Check the stop conditions. What happens to somebody who buys on day one?
  4. Check enroll once is set the way you meant.
  5. Decide about existing people — see the next guide.
  6. Then switch it live.

Switching to live

When you go live you are asked whether to keep what has already run or start fresh. Start fresh discards the test runs, which is normally what you want — otherwise your first real results are mixed in with your own testing.

WATCH IT FOR THE FIRST WEEK
Look at who actually got enrolled and what they were sent. An automation that is wrong is wrong repeatedly, quietly, to real customers — and the first week is when it is cheapest to find out.
