Folders and product links

The folder view, linking images to products and ranges, and choosing which folders the library shows.

As well as categories, the library can be browsed as folders — which is how most people expect to look for a picture.

Which folders appear

The library settings decide which folder views are shown: categories, products and ranges. Turn off the ones your business does not use — a folder view full of empty folders makes the library look emptier than it is.

Linking images to what you sell

An image can be attached to a product, a product range or a product category. That is what lets somebody working on a product find its photography without knowing what the file was called.

It is worth doing at upload — attaching a hundred images to products afterwards is a long afternoon, and it is the link people rely on most.

Your own directories

Directories can be created, renamed and deleted to match how your team thinks about its artwork. Keep the structure shallow — a folder five levels deep is a folder nobody opens.

FOLDERS FOR BROWSING, TAGS FOR FINDING
People browse when they do not know what they want and search when they do. A good library supports both, which means filing images and tagging them.
