The other ways to organise tribes, and the one that deletes data when you tidy up.

Last updated September 2, 2026

Alongside tribe types and tribe groups there are three more ways to organise tribes, each doing a different job.

What it is for
RegionsYour own geographic grouping — a filter on the tribe list and a dimension in reporting.
TagsFree-form labels for anything types and regions do not cover.
TerritoryThe area a tribe actually covers, as postcodes or a drawn boundary.

Regions

Managed under Manage Tribe Regions and assigned on each tribe. A tribe can belong to more than one. They appear as a filter on the tribe list and as a column in Tribe Results and the status export.

REMOVING A REGION FROM THE LIST DELETES IT
The regions screen saves the whole list at once, so taking a row out and saving destroys that region and unlinks every tribe from it. There is no confirmation naming what you are about to lose. Rename regions rather than deleting and recreating them.

Tags

Set on a tribe's admin settings. Use them for the things that cut across your structure — "flagship", "drive-through", "acquired 2026". Deleting a set of tags removes all its values from every tribe, so treat that as permanent too.

Territory

On the Address & Territory tab you can list Territory Postcodes / ZIP codes or draw a boundary on the map. This describes the area a tribe serves rather than where it sits, which matters when you are deciding who a lead belongs to.

Alternate addresses

The same tab holds additional addresses — a workshop, a second entrance, a postal address — each with a name, status, full address, coordinates, phone and description. The main address stays the one customers see; these are for your own records.

Which to use

A SIMPLE RULE
Tribe type for what a tribe is. Region for where it sits. Tribe group for how you report on it. Tags for everything else. Reaching for tags first is how networks end up with forty labels and no structure.
