Automatic overdue reminders
Emailing members about long-unpaid balances, how the threshold works, and the limits that stop it becoming spam.
Last updated September 2, 2026
Gorilla Dash can chase old balances for you. It is off by default — switch on Email members about long-unpaid balances in Membership Settings.
How members are chosen
By how long their oldest unpaid charge has been open — not by lateness against payment terms, because the ledger has no due dates. Set the threshold with Remind once the oldest unpaid charge is this many days old. The suggested starting point is 45 days.
What the member gets
An email headed A reminder about your membership balance, telling them the amount and how old the oldest charge is, with a link to update their payment card. Your Billing Statement Message is included if you have set one. It ends by asking them to disregard it if they have already paid, because payments take a little while to appear.
The guardrails
- At most one reminder per member per week, however long they stay overdue.
- A cap on how many members are contacted in a single run, so switching it on cannot email your whole book at once.
- A tribe can be opted out of an organisation-wide rollout.
