The LinkedIn button on a contact opens a search for that person in a new tab, built from their name and the business they work for. It saves the copying and pasting; it does not import anything.
When it helps
- Before a first call, to check a job title that may be years out of date in your database.
- When an email bounces — a job change explains most bounces on business addresses.
- When you have inherited an account and want to know who you are actually dealing with.
It works best when the contact has a company linked: a name alone is a weak search, a name plus a business is usually the right person first time.
WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU FIND
A job title you confirm on LinkedIn is only useful to the rest of the team if it ends up back on the contact. Update the record while the tab is still open.
