Adding Members
Changing a membership after it has started
Why most fields lock once a charge exists, and the correct way to reprice somebody.
Last updated September 2, 2026
Open the membership and you get Edit Membership / Subscription. If it has ever billed, most of the form is locked, with a notice explaining why.
Why it works this way
Charges already raised describe a period at a price. Editing the price or the schedule underneath them would leave a ledger that no longer matches what was agreed or what was collected, and reports covering earlier months would silently change.
Repricing somebody
- Set an End Date on the current membership at the end of the period they have paid for.
- Add a new membership on the same member, starting the next day, at the new amount.
- Both appear on the Packages tab, so the history of what they paid and when stays intact.
The balance is held on the member, not the membership, so nothing is lost or double-counted by doing this.
Pausing instead
If somebody needs a break rather than a new price, set the status to Paused. Charges stop being raised; anything already owed stays owed and will still be collected.
