JRI Hospitality expands its national footprint after acquiring 43 Freddy’s restaurants from HCI Hospitality, pushing its portfolio past 130 locations across 18 states.

JRI Hospitality, the largest franchisee of Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, has significantly expanded its national presence through the acquisition of the restaurant operations of HCI Hospitality. The deal adds 43 Freddy’s locations to JRI’s portfolio and increases its total footprint to more than 130 restaurants across 18 states.

The acquisition represents a major step forward for the Kansas-based restaurant group, which previously operated around 90 Freddy’s locations across 15 states. By integrating the HCI restaurants into its network, the company continues to strengthen its position as one of the most influential operators within the Freddy’s franchise system.

Jason Ingermanson, founder and chief executive officer of JRI Hospitality, described the transaction as an opportunity to combine two experienced teams with similar values. He said the companies share a commitment to quality, integrity, and guest satisfaction, principles that will continue to guide operations as the restaurants transition under JRI’s leadership.

The agreement also includes additional restaurant concepts previously operated by HCI Hospitality, including JC’s BBQ and Grill in Junction City, Kansas, and Powercat Sports Grill in Manhattan, Kansas. However, Booth Creek Wagyu will remain independently owned and operated by HCI founder Dave Dreiling.

For JRI Hospitality, the acquisition marks another milestone in its growth strategy. With more than 145 restaurants now operating under its broader portfolio, the company continues to expand not only with Freddy’s but also with other concepts such as Mokas Coffee & Eatery. As the hospitality group looks ahead, leadership says the focus will remain on delivering memorable guest experiences while strengthening its presence in communities across the country.
