His wife and 3-year-old child had previously taken lessons through the brand, giving him a firsthand view of its approach to water safety and swimming instruction.
Farran’s decision was also shaped by a Boy Scouts outing involving approximately 150 children. He said the experience highlighted how many participants struggled in the water or lacked confidence in their swimming abilities. That observation reinforced his view that swimming education should extend beyond recreation and focus on skills that can help people respond more safely around water.
British Swim School’s curriculum is structured around progressive stages that begin with water acclimation and survival skills before advancing toward stroke development. Its Downriver location offers programs for children, young adults, adults, and swimmers with special needs, with options ranging from beginner water survival to stroke technique and endurance development.
