The breakfast landscape in Austin has grown more inviting with the opening of Eggs Up Grill’s first local café, led by a pair whose backgrounds are rooted in service and care. Retired U.S. Air Force Captain Omar Thompson and emergency room physician Dr. Megan Hood have partnered to bring the community-focused breakfast and lunch concept to South Austin. Their mission is simple yet powerful: to create a place where neighbors gather, share a meal, and feel at home.
For Thompson, the transition from military service to business ownership represents a continuation of purpose. “After serving my country, I wanted to keep making a positive impact, just in a different way,” he said. Together, he and Hood see Eggs Up Grill not just as a restaurant but as a community hub that reflects their shared belief in hospitality and connection. Their café aims to provide more than comfort food—it strives to serve comfort itself.
Open daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., the new location features a full menu of freshly prepared favorites. Guests can expect hearty omelets, golden pancakes, and a range of burgers, wraps, and salads designed to satisfy every appetite. Whether for breakfast with family, brunch with friends, or a quick lunch between meetings, the restaurant offers a warm, casual space for every part of the day.
Eggs Up Grill CEO Ricky Richardson praised the addition of Thompson and Hood to the franchise family, noting that their dedication to community perfectly aligns with the brand’s spirit. The Austin opening marks another milestone in the company’s expansion across the United States, reinforcing its role as a leader in neighborhood-focused dining. For Eggs Up Grill, the recipe for success continues to be equal parts great food, great people, and genuine hospitality.
