Golden Corral is preparing to mark the 26th year of its Military Appreciation Night, continuing a Veterans Day tradition that combines complimentary meals with fundraising for veterans. On Wednesday, November 11, participating restaurants nationwide will offer current U.S. service members, retired military personnel, and veterans a free “Thank You” buffet and beverage from 4 p.m. until closing. The dine-in offer is available to eligible military personnel only and does not extend to spouses, friends, or other family members. No military identification is required.
This year's event also introduces retired U.S. Navy SEAL and veterans advocate Marcus Luttrell as its spokesperson for the first time. A recipient of the Navy Cross and Purple Heart, Luttrell will help raise awareness of the annual initiative and Golden Corral's partnership with Disabled American Veterans (DAV). The collaboration supports local DAV chapters, which provide services and assistance to veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors. Golden Corral Chief Marketing Officer Skip Hanke said Luttrell's military experience and advocacy make him a meaningful voice for the campaign.
The fundraising effort will continue beyond Veterans Day, running through November 29 for the first time. DAV representatives will be present at participating restaurants during the campaign, giving guests opportunities to contribute by rounding up their checks at the register or making direct donations to local chapters. The extended period is intended to provide more opportunities for customers to support the organization beyond the annual appreciation event.
The program has generated substantial support over its history. In 2025, Golden Corral restaurants served nearly 180,000 complimentary meals and raised close to $1 million for DAV chapters. Since the initiative began in 2001, the chain has served nearly 6.9 million free meals and raised more than $21.5 million for local chapters. Chief Executive Officer Lance Trenary described Military Appreciation Night as one of the company's most meaningful traditions, bringing guests and restaurant teams together to recognize military service and sacrifice.
Golden Corral's charitable work also extends beyond the November event. The company supports Camp Corral, which provides free summer camp experiences for children of wounded, ill, and fallen service members, and continues its partnership with Project Healing Waters in 2026. The latter organization uses therapeutic fly-fishing programs to support veterans and active-duty military personnel. For franchise networks planning similar community initiatives, the Event Calendar feature available through Gorilla Dash can help organize campaign schedules and coordinate activities across locations. Golden Corral's annual effort shows how a restaurant brand can turn a single day of recognition into a broader commitment to community support.
