Sport Clips Haircuts has launched its 2025 Help A Hero campaign in partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, aiming to raise $1.35 million in scholarships for veterans pursuing higher education. Running through November 15, the initiative centers on Veterans Day, when participating locations nationwide will offer free haircuts to veterans and active-duty service members as a gesture of gratitude and solidarity.
Since its inception, the Help A Hero campaign has become a defining part of Sport Clips’ community mission. Each year, customers contribute the majority of funds through in-store donations, proving that generosity often begins in everyday moments. Sport Clips franchise owners and product partners also participate, creating a shared effort that brings together local communities, business leaders, and veterans in need.
The VFW’s Help A Hero Scholarship program, launched in 2013, was created to address the growing financial gaps in veteran education support that extend beyond the GI Bill. The program has since awarded more than 3,350 scholarships worth over $15 million, helping veterans ranked E-5 and below receive up to $5,000 per semester toward their studies. The funds are sent directly to educational institutions, allowing recipients to focus on their coursework rather than tuition worries.
Gordon Logan, founder and chairman of Sport Clips and a U.S. Air Force veteran, has long been a driving force behind the initiative. “It’s our privilege to stand beside those who have served,” he said, underscoring the brand’s commitment to veterans who often face challenges transitioning into civilian life. His sentiment is shared by VFW National Commander Carol Whitmore, who described the scholarship as a critical bridge to meaningful employment and long-term stability for service members returning home.
For Sport Clips, the annual campaign represents more than a fundraising effort—it reflects a corporate philosophy grounded in community, respect, and purpose. As barbers work their craft and customers fill chairs, every haircut becomes a quiet act of giving, reaffirming that compassion can thrive even in the most ordinary of places. Through this simple yet powerful initiative, the company continues to turn everyday business into lasting impact, one veteran and one haircut at a time.
