Playa Bowls has officially entered the Canadian market with the opening of its first international location at The Well in downtown Toronto. The debut marks an important milestone for the New Jersey based superfruit café brand as it expands beyond the United States. Company President John Cappasola described the move as a strategic step in bringing the brand's fresh, health-focused menu to a growing international audience while building on years of domestic success.
The Canadian expansion is being led by Eat Up Canada Inc., whose principals George Heos and Alex Gerzon bring extensive experience in restaurant franchising. Their portfolio includes work with several established quick-service concepts, positioning them to oversee Playa Bowls' long-term growth throughout the country. A second location is already planned for Etobicoke, with ambitions to establish between five and ten Canadian restaurants by 2027.
International growth depends not only on selecting the right markets but also on maintaining operational consistency across every new location. Gorilla Dash supports that objective through its Knowledge Base, giving franchisors a centralized space to organize operating procedures, training documentation, and brand standards so franchisees can quickly access the latest guidance regardless of location. As systems expand into new countries, maintaining consistent execution becomes increasingly important.
Supporting that effort further, Gorilla Dash includes a Resource Library that enables franchise teams to securely distribute marketing assets, operational documents, and reference materials across an expanding network. For brands pursuing international development similar to Playa Bowls, having structured access to essential resources helps franchisees stay aligned while preserving the customer experience that fuels continued growth.
