Cardiff’s growing reputation as a technology hub has gained a new addition with the launch of Jam Coding Cardiff, led by Area Director Mohammed Afzal. With more than fifteen years of engineering experience, Afzal brings both technical expertise and a strong commitment to community development as he introduces the digital education franchise to South Wales.
Afzal says his decision to join Jam Coding was driven by a desire to make a meaningful local impact. He saw an opportunity to help young people build essential technology skills while addressing the growing digital skills gap across the region. “I wanted to use my skills to make a real difference locally,” he said, emphasizing the importance of equipping children with practical knowledge that will shape their future careers.
Jam Coding delivers computing education through a variety of programs designed to engage students both inside and outside the classroom. The Cardiff operation plans to offer after school clubs, holiday programs, and workshops focused on digital citizenship and online safety. The curriculum is designed not only to teach coding but also to encourage creativity, teamwork, and responsible technology use.
For Afzal, the mission extends beyond programming languages and technical exercises. He believes that helping children understand how technology can positively influence society is just as important as teaching them how it works. “Teaching children how to use technology to make the world a better place is incredibly important to me,” he said.
