A first-time franchise owner who spent 33 years in a dental office opens the brand’s Victoria County debut on November 18
- Chicken Salad Chick opens new restaurant in Victoria Retail Village, Texas.
- Promotions offer free chicken salad and gifts to first guests.
- Tanya Johnson, a local resident, owns the new franchise.
Chicken Salad Chick will open its first Victoria County restaurant on Wednesday, November 18, at 9109 N. Navarro Street in Victoria Retail Village. The fast casual brand, which describes itself as the nation’s only chicken salad restaurant concept, will celebrate with a week of giveaways. The first 100 guests in line on opening day will win free chicken salad for a year, with the first guest receiving a large Quick Chick every week and the next 99 receiving one each month.
The rest of opening week centers on daily giveaways. On November 19, 20, and 21, the first 25 guests at 10:30 a.m. and again at 5 p.m. who buy a meal with two sides will receive a Chick Tote Bag, a 16-ounce Tervis Tumbler, and a Chick Dish Towel, in that order. Opening-day winners must download the Chicken Salad Chick app, remain in line, and make a qualifying purchase to secure their place, and the first free Quick Chick will arrive in the app the following Monday.
The restaurant will be owned and operated by Tanya Johnson, a first-time franchise owner and lifelong Victoria resident. Johnson spent 33 years working in a local dental office before pursuing franchise ownership, and she says she was not a fan of chicken salad until she tried the brand in 2023. She and her husband, Lewis, plan to run the restaurant with their oldest daughter, Alyssa, as general manager. “Our community is ready for some new and fresh dining experiences,” Johnson said.
Offers with limits, dates, and eligibility rules require careful handling, particularly when many franchise owners are running similar events at once. Gorilla Dash comes with a Competitions and Promotions feature designed to help franchisees set up giveaways, apply consistent rules, and review results once the week is over. For a brand opening new locations at a steady pace, that kind of structure can keep each launch from becoming a one-off project.
Scott Deviney, CEO and President of Chicken Salad Chick, called Texas a key growth market and said entering Victoria County is another step in strengthening the brand’s presence there. The company has more than 350 restaurants across 27 states. The Victoria team will also support Riverside Cares, a monthly outreach program run by Riverside Church, during pre-opening events, and the brand’s CSC Foundation continues to back CURE Childhood Cancer and local food banks.
