KidStrong, a fast-growing youth enrichment franchise, has secured a strategic investment from Princeton Equity Group, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s expansion across North America. The partnership reflects growing investor confidence in concepts that blend education, physical activity, and personal development for children.
Founded in 2015 by Matt Sharp and Megin Stein, along with partner Lincoln Brown, KidStrong began as a grassroots effort to create a comprehensive development program for their daughter. What started in a home setting has since evolved into a structured franchise system headquartered in Frisco, Texas. Today, the brand operates 184 centers and serves more than 85,000 members across the United States and Canada, with more than 320 additional locations in development.
KidStrong’s model is built on a science-based curriculum developed by experts in child development, education, and sports performance. Its 45-minute classes are designed to enhance children’s physical, cognitive, and emotional skills through engaging, play-based activities. This integrated approach has resonated strongly with families seeking programs that go beyond traditional extracurricular offerings.
Chief Executive Officer Matt Sharp described the investment as a natural alignment of vision and capability. He noted that Princeton Equity Group brings both expertise and resources to support the company’s growing base of franchisees and member families. Princeton’s managing partner, Doug Kennealey, emphasized the firm’s belief in KidStrong’s impact, describing it as a company that is meaningfully improving the lives of children and families.
As franchising continues to evolve, KidStrong’s trajectory highlights the increasing appeal of purpose-driven brands with scalable systems. Backed by private equity and supported by strong unit economics, the company is well-positioned to expand its footprint while maintaining its focus on delivering measurable outcomes for the communities it serves.
