The Melbourne Franchising & Small Business Expo 2025 closed its doors on a high note, drawing record attendance and reaffirming franchising’s renewed momentum. Over two days, visitors filled the exhibition halls to capacity, engaging with a wide range of brands from Aramex and Choices Flooring to Gong Cha and Mail Boxes Etc.
Event director Tim Collett called the gathering a “huge success,” noting that “there seems to be more interest in franchising than we have seen for many years.” His remarks captured the upbeat mood, as aisles buzzed with potential investors and seminar rooms overflowed with aspiring business owners.
Leading names made their presence felt. Craveable showcased its well-known food portfolio, including Red Rooster, Oporto, Chicken Treat and Chargrill Charlie’s, while Foodco drew attention with Jamaica Blue and Muffin Break. International exhibitors also added to the mix, with a delegation of Taiwanese companies introducing bubble tea, retail and education brands to the Australian market.
A new feature, the “Start Your Own Business” section, proved especially popular among first-time entrepreneurs. Collett highlighted Saturday as the strongest day, with crowds “packed to the rafters,” while Sunday, though affected by citywide demonstrations, still generated significant engagement. Exhibitors reported steady inquiries, many from serious prospects ready to take the next step.
The strength of the turnout reassured organizers and participants alike that franchising remains on a growth trajectory. “We’re really excited about the result and planning for even bigger shows next year,” Collett said, pointing to both the strong exhibitor feedback and the surge in visitor numbers.
The 2026 calendar is already confirmed, with Brisbane hosting the first expo on March 21–22, followed by Sydney on May 30–31, before Melbourne again takes the spotlight on August 1–2. Organizers are preparing larger venues and expanded programs to match the growing appetite for franchising opportunities across Australia.
As the industry looks ahead, the Melbourne expo has positioned itself not just as a showcase of brands but as a vital barometer of small business confidence, signaling a sector on the rise and ready for its next stage of expansion.
