Gelatissimo is celebrating 20 years in Singapore, marking two decades since the Australian gelato brand opened its first store at Shaw Centre in 2005. What began as a single outlet has grown into a network of five locations across the city state, including a prominent store at Jewel Changi Airport, reflecting sustained demand for handcrafted gelato in a highly competitive food and beverage market.
The brand entered Singapore just three years after its debut in Sydney, bringing with it a commitment to freshly made gelato produced on site each day. Over time, Gelatissimo has built a loyal following by balancing classic flavours with innovation, allowing it to maintain relevance as consumer tastes and dining habits have evolved. Its continued presence in high profile locations speaks to the strength of its operating model and customer appeal.
Scott Leith, Gelatissimo’s international general manager, said the milestone offers an opportunity to celebrate with customers through new flavours and special events. He noted that the anniversary reflects the dedication of the local teams and the strong relationships the brand has developed within the community. At Shaw House, head of real estate George Lim described Gelatissimo as a valued long term tenant, praising its consistent focus on quality and customer experience along Orchard Road.
A key element of Gelatissimo’s success in Singapore has been its ability to incorporate local culinary influences into its menu. Flavours such as Mandarin, Durian, Ondeh Ondeh, and Mango Sticky Rice showcase a thoughtful blend of Australian heritage and Singaporean taste preferences, helping the brand connect with local consumers while retaining its international identity.
As Gelatissimo looks ahead, its 20 year journey in Singapore stands as an example of how global food brands can thrive through adaptation and sustained quality. The anniversary not only celebrates past achievements but also signals the brand’s intention to continue evolving with the market, offering familiar favourites alongside locally inspired creations for years to come.
