Angela and Andy Harrelson are trading burger operations for dog wellness as they embark on a six-unit Scenthound development plan in the southeastern United States. The couple, veterans of multi-unit McDonald’s operations with four decades of experience, will open three locations in the Columbia, South Carolina area and three in Augusta, Georgia. Their first Scenthound facility is scheduled to open in March in Irmo, South Carolina.
The Harrelsons’ transition into the pet wellness sector stems from their own experiences as customers. Angela said that seeing the difference Scenthound made in their dog’s health and happiness convinced them this was a business they wanted to build. Their background in restaurant operations gives them deep experience in customer service and business execution, skills they are now applying to a growing segment of the pet care industry.
Community engagement is central to the Harrelsons’ plans. They intend to develop strong partnerships with local animal shelters and rescue groups to support pet adoption and provide routine hygiene and wellness services. Their approach reflects a broader trend among franchise owners who seek not only to grow their businesses but also to strengthen ties with the communities they serve.
Josh Lyon, Chief Operations Officer at Scenthound, said the couple’s combination of experience and passion for pet wellness brings exceptional value to the franchise network. He noted that their business ownership history and commitment to quality care align with the brand’s mission. The Harrelsons’ six-unit agreement underscores Scenthound’s continued expansion in the pet wellness category, a sector that has seen rising demand as pet owners seek convenient and preventive care options.
Their move from one franchise system to another highlights the evolving paths experienced operators are taking as they diversify their portfolios. With the first opening imminent and additional locations underway, the Harrelsons are poised to make their mark in the dog wellness space while bringing heightened awareness to the importance of routine care for pets.
