The Tomey Group has expanded its footprint in Michigan with the opening of a new Jimmy John’s location in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood. Located at 1620 Michigan Avenue, the restaurant marks the company’s 48th franchise in the state and reflects its continued investment in high-demand urban areas. The location offers a full range of services, including dine-in, delivery, pickup, and catering.
Spanning 1,600 square feet, the new restaurant is designed to serve a diverse customer base, from local residents to professionals working in the city. The Tomey Group began its journey with Jimmy John’s more than 20 years ago in Novi, Michigan, and has since grown into the largest franchisee in the state and one of the largest operators in the country.
Anthony Tomey, chief executive officer of The Tomey Group, emphasized the significance of the opening, noting that the Corktown location represents both growth and community engagement. He said the company is proud to expand its presence in Detroit and looks forward to serving fresh sandwiches to customers for years to come.
The grand opening took place on March 11, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by company leadership, local officials, and community members. The event highlighted the role of franchise businesses in contributing to local economies and neighborhood revitalization.
As multi-unit operators continue to scale across established brands, the Tomey Group’s expansion demonstrates the enduring strength of the quick-service restaurant sector. The Corktown opening not only adds another location to its portfolio but also reinforces its long-term commitment to growth within the Jimmy John’s system.
