Bojangles is expanding beyond its traditional restaurant footprint with a four-location nontraditional development agreement in Norfolk, Virginia. The agreement with Faber, Coe & Gregg of Florida Inc. will bring the Southern chicken and biscuit brand to a military base and Norfolk International Airport, along with two additional nontraditional locations planned over the next six years.
The first military base restaurant will represent a new venue for Bojangles as the company continues building its presence in Virginia. Faber, Coe & Gregg, an experienced operator of restaurants and other businesses in nontraditional settings, will lead the development. Wally Janokowicz, a vice president with the company, said the group was attracted to Bojangles' operating model and its potential to connect with new customers.
The agreement also calls for a Bojangles location at Norfolk International Airport. Faber, Coe & Gregg is already involved in the airport's broader concessions plans, which include a mix of national brands and local concepts as Norfolk International Airport modernizes its food and retail offerings. The airport authority has said the updated concessions program is expected to begin rolling out in phases.
For Bojangles, the move reflects a broader effort to find new ways to reach customers while supporting franchise-led growth. CEO Jose Armario has emphasized the importance of franchisee success as the company expands, and the Norfolk agreement gives an experienced operator responsibility for introducing the brand to military and travel audiences. Franchise opportunities also remain available in territories across Virginia.
Expansion into military bases, airports and other nontraditional venues can create operational challenges because teams must adapt established brand standards to different environments. A Gorilla Dash Knowledge Base can give franchise teams a centralized place for training materials, operating procedures and other resources, helping employees access consistent information as new locations come online. For growing franchise networks, that kind of organizational structure can support smoother execution without changing the local character of each operation.
