Black Sheep Coffee has completed a major franchise territory agreement covering a minimum of 31 stores across Essex, Leicestershire, and Buckinghamshire. The specialty coffee chain secured the locations through a franchise takeover deal, with an existing competitor franchisee switching to the Black Sheep Coffee brand.
The expansion spans diverse locations including commuter towns, market centers, and regional shopping destinations. Notable sites include Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex, as well as locations throughout Leicester and Milton Keynes. This represents one of Black Sheep Coffee's most significant territorial expansions since the company's founding in 2013.
The announcement comes as Black Sheep Coffee continues rapid growth across the UK franchise market. Co-founder Eirik Holth expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, stating the company looks forward to bringing their specialty Robusta blend and signature Norwegian waffles to the new communities. The brand has differentiated itself in the competitive coffee market by sourcing specialty-grade 100% Robusta beans, positioning itself as an alternative to traditional Arabica-focused competitors.
This franchise agreement reinforces Black Sheep Coffee's position as one of the UK's fastest-growing independent coffee brands. The company currently operates more than 40 locations across the UK, with additional international presence in the Philippines and France. The brand continues to expand its franchising model while maintaining focus on specialty coffee offerings and community-centered growth strategies.
