The British Franchise Association has announced a major change to two of its most influential women’s leadership platforms. In 2026, the Empowering Women in Business conference and the Encouraging Women into Franchising Awards will be combined into one unified flagship event scheduled for May 20 at Leicester Tigers Stadium. The move signals a new chapter in how the association supports, recognizes and connects women across the UK franchising sector.
Pip Wilkins, chief executive of the British Franchise Association, said the decision reflects a shared commitment to creating a stronger and more impactful experience for participants. She explained that bringing the two events together will streamline attendance while offering a richer program of insight, inspiration and recognition. The combined format will allow delegates to benefit from a full day of professional development followed by an evening dedicated to celebrating outstanding achievements.
Helen Mansfield, managing director of the Encouraging Women into Franchising Awards, welcomed the collaboration as a practical and strategic response to current market pressures. She noted that many brands and networks continue to manage rising costs and tighter margins, making it increasingly important to deliver high value opportunities that maximize time, learning and connection. Mansfield said the unified event strengthens the support structure available to women working within franchising.
The 2026 program will center on the theme Leadership, Legacy and Impact. Organizers say the agenda will include keynote sessions, panel discussions and real world insights focused on building confidence, promoting sustainable growth and nurturing strong professional networks. The aim is to provide both inspiration and actionable guidance to women at every stage of their franchising journey.
As anticipation builds toward the May gathering, the combined event is already being positioned as a milestone moment for the industry. By uniting two established platforms into one comprehensive experience, the British Franchise Association is reinforcing its commitment to inclusive leadership and to the continued advancement of women throughout the franchising community.
