Taco Cabana recently embraced the spirit of National Tequila Day with a bold campaign that invited Texans to indulge in premium margaritas and take part in a statewide mixology challenge. Guests across Texas enjoyed $1.50 margaritas made with Casa Alta’s 100% blue agave tequila, offering a refreshing pairing to the restaurant’s signature tacos and queso. The promotion, available at nearly all locations, was designed not only to celebrate the day but also to bring the community together around one of the brand’s most iconic offerings.
Extending the celebration, Taco Cabana introduced its first-ever margarita recipe contest, “The Next Great Margarita.” The contest invites Texas residents aged 21 and older to submit their own original margarita flavor ideas. Submissions are open through August 10 and can include written descriptions as well as optional photos or videos. Weekly winners will receive Taco Cabana gift cards and free food for a year, while three grand prize winners will receive an immersive getaway to Jalisco, Mexico—the birthplace of tequila.
The Jalisco experience will offer winners a behind-the-scenes look at traditional tequila-making. From walking through scenic agave fields to sampling artisanal blends with local experts, the trip provides an authentic connection to the roots of the spirit. President and COO Ulyses Camacho emphasized the significance of this campaign, stating that tequila is an essential part of Taco Cabana’s heritage and that the contest is a way to let guests shape its future.
By blending customer engagement with brand tradition, Taco Cabana is delivering more than just great drinks—it’s offering fans a chance to leave their mark on its evolving margarita menu. With a strong response already pouring in, the campaign underscores the brand’s commitment to flavor innovation and cultural celebration.
Whether guests are toasting with $1.50 margaritas or crafting a recipe that could win them a trip to Mexico, Taco Cabana is making this summer one to remember.
