In the landscape of fast-casual dining, few concepts capture attention like Saigon Hustle. The Houston-born Vietnamese restaurant, affectionately known as “the Chipotle of Vietnamese food,” has taken a bold leap forward by securing a 24-unit franchise agreement across Florida, Tennessee, and the Carolinas. This strategic move is backed by dual investment and operational partnerships with Savory Fund and Virentes Partners Group, signaling a crucial phase of expansion.
Founded in 2020 by longtime friends Cassie Ghaffar and Sandy Nguyen, Saigon Hustle quickly earned a reputation for its vibrant banh mi sandwiches, hearty pho, fresh bowls, and approachable fast-casual energy. The brand’s distinct fusion of tradition and modernity caught the attention of Savory Fund, which brought the concept into its portfolio after Saigon Hustle won the firm’s Million-Dollar Restaurant Launch competition in 2021.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the incredible Virentes team to bring this unique concept to new cities and communities,” said Andrew K. Smith, co-founder and managing director of Savory Fund. “There’s truly nothing like Saigon Hustle—the flavors, the energy, and the experience are one-of-a-kind.” His enthusiasm underscores the firm’s commitment not just financially but through active brand support.
Virentes Partners Group, known for operating concepts like Shipley Do-Nuts and Sweet Paris Creperie, has made a significant stake not only by entering the franchise arrangement but also through broader investment in the company. “Saigon Hustle is truly extraordinary,” said Jim D’Aquila, managing member of Virentes Partners Group. “The passion of its founders, Cassie and Sandy, is evident in every dish and in the devotion of their team and guests."
The co-founders themselves reflect on the journey with grounded optimism. “When we launched Saigon Hustle, our goal was simple: share Vietnamese flavors in a way that’s fun, approachable, and unforgettable,” said Cassie Ghaffar. “This partnership opens the door to reach so many more guests while keeping the heart and energy of our brand alive in every location.” Sandy Nguyen adds, “It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come, and even more exciting to know the best part of the journey is still ahead with these wonderful partners by our side.”
With these strategic moves underway, Saigon Hustle aims to triple its corporate footprint over the next two years while activating new franchise locations across its regions of focus. For franchising professionals and aspiring multi-unit operators, the partnership embodies a compelling blueprint: startups that win with rooted authenticity and community engagement can scale dramatically when paired with seasoned investment and operational infrastructure.
