Killer Burger, the Portland-based better burger concept celebrated for its meticulously crafted, award-winning burgers, has opened its second location in San Antonio. Situated in the rapidly developing Brooks neighborhood at 7511 S. New Braunfels Ave., Suite 105, the new restaurant represents a major step forward as the franchise expands beyond its Pacific Northwest roots.
The Brooks restaurant is the product of a unique partnership between founder and franchisee Thomas "TJ" Southard and Natasha Fogel, Killer Burger's first female franchisee. This collaboration builds on the success of the brand’s initial San Antonio launch, which demonstrated strong market potential and solid customer engagement.
According to Southard, the performance of the first San Antonio store reinforced confidence in the city’s growth trajectory. The Brooks neighborhood, with its ongoing development and strategic location in the southeastern corridor, offers access to a growing customer base and supports the brand's long-term vision.
One of the standout features of the new restaurant is a reimagined kitchen layout designed to increase speed and service efficiency without expanding the restaurant’s footprint. This innovation reflects Killer Burger’s commitment to operational excellence as the brand scales nationally.
Architecturally, the new location makes a bold statement with large, arched windows that enhance street visibility and draw in foot traffic. Inside, customers are greeted with custom artwork, including a mural that honors Fogel’s long-standing contributions to the brand over nearly two decades of collaboration with Southard.
CEO Adam Sanders emphasized the importance of Texas in the brand's nationwide expansion strategy. Success in San Antonio has validated Killer Burger’s appeal beyond the Pacific Northwest and established a blueprint for entry into new regional markets. Sanders reaffirmed the company's commitment to delivering unforgettable burgers and a vibrant dining experience while pursuing strategic, sustainable growth.
Natasha Fogel’s story is one of dedication and evolution. Having worked closely with Southard for many years, including during the brand’s early development phase, she has played a key role in shaping Killer Burger’s identity. Her transition from employee to franchise owner marks a defining moment, both personally and for the company’s franchise culture.
With the Brooks location now open, Killer Burger is advancing its expansion throughout Texas. A third restaurant is already in the works in Austin, and plans are underway for an additional opening in Houston. These moves reinforce Texas as a launchpad for continued expansion into the southern and midwestern United States.
The company is also extending its national footprint with upcoming locations in cities such as Bend and Boise. A recently executed multi-unit franchise agreement will bring more stores to the Northwest, signaling a balanced growth strategy across established and emerging markets.
Founded in Portland, Killer Burger has carved out a reputation for redefining the modern American diner with its distinctive take on classic burgers. The brand has earned numerous “Best Burger” awards over the years and currently operates 25 locations through a mix of company-owned and franchised stores. With a continued focus on tech innovation and operational improvements, Killer Burger is well-positioned for long-term success as it grows from regional favorite to national fast-casual contender.
The Brooks opening exemplifies the brand’s broader vision for sustainable growth through efficient operations, strong leadership, and meaningful franchise partnerships—all cornerstones of Killer Burger’s transition into new markets.
