Auditel UK has marked a significant milestone in the evolving field of carbon accounting by becoming the first organisation appointed as an Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals Certified Training Centre. Its Introduction to Carbon Accounting course has met the institute’s rigorous standards, culminating in the graduation of the first cohort of ISEP Technical Associate Carbon Accountants in December. The achievement positions Auditel at the forefront of professionalising a discipline that is rapidly gaining importance as businesses face increasing scrutiny over environmental reporting.
The certification reflects growing demand for credible, defensible carbon data as regulatory expectations tighten and corporate sustainability commitments come under closer examination. Auditel’s programme is designed to equip professionals with a practical understanding of carbon measurement, reporting frameworks, and verification processes. Edward Brown, Senior Training and Development Manager at ISEP, said the certification sets a new benchmark for training quality and professionalism in carbon accounting.
Chris Aston, who leads Auditel’s training and development efforts, said the course was intentionally demanding to reflect the seriousness of the work ahead. He noted that graduates are expected to play a leading role in helping organisations move from high level ambition to measurable action. That emphasis on rigour has resonated with participants, several of whom described the experience as both challenging and highly practical.
Among the graduates is Liam Bailey, who has joined Auditel as a Full Partner Business following completion of the programme. He described the course as exceptional in both content and delivery, highlighting its relevance to real world business needs. Another graduate, Jonathan Curren, reflected on the value of the immersive five day format and the opportunity to learn alongside peers navigating similar professional transitions.
