Barry Hussey, a veteran ChipsAway franchisee, has marked a significant milestone by issuing his 10,000th invoice—a journey that began when he joined the network in 2010 and implemented its bespoke CRM system in 2014. His career path included starting as a mobile operator, expanding to a fixed-base Car Care Centre and then returning to mobile service to better balance his work and personal life.
A pivotal element in Hussey’s success has been the flexibility of mobile operations. He values the diversity and autonomy of serving different locations daily, and notes that the ability to align his work schedule with family life—especially raising five boys—has been invaluable. This freedom has become one of the defining advantages of the ChipsAway model.
Collaborative support from fellow franchisees has also been a cornerstone of his long-term success. Hussey frequently partners with neighboring operator Jack Newman, often pooling resources for larger jobs and sharing insights. As he puts it, even though each franchisee is independent, “you’re never truly on your own with ChipsAway.”
Hussey’s journey, underscored by 10,000 invoices and a focus on flexible operations and community, offers a compelling example for aspiring franchisees. His experience emphasizes how personal intention, operational adaptability, and network support can combine to sustain long-term business success in franchising.
