KFC has opened a new drive-thru restaurant at Monks Cross Shopping Park in York, creating 40 jobs and extending the brand’s presence in the UK. Operated by franchise partner Adil Group, the restaurant opened on October 17 and is among the first in the country to feature KFC’s latest restaurant design. The site combines dine-in service with drive-thru and delivery options, reflecting the brand’s broader investment in its UK and Ireland restaurant network.
The restaurant accommodates 64 dine-in customers and features four digital ordering kiosks, parking for 15 vehicles, and a dedicated waiting area for delivery drivers. Its menu includes KFC’s core fried chicken range, Tenders & Dips, limited-edition Mozzamelt products, and drinks from the Kwench range. The layout is designed to serve customers using different ordering and collection options, from eating inside to collecting meals on the move.
Adil Group has operated as a KFC franchise partner for more than two decades. The group acquired its first 11 KFC restaurants across Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire in 2004 and has since grown its portfolio to 113 restaurants, according to the opening announcement. The York location marks its third KFC restaurant opening of the year, following launches in Ashford and Acton. The expansion highlights the role established franchise operators can play in extending a national brand into local markets.
The opening forms part of KFC’s £1.5 billion investment plan for the UK and Ireland, which includes a target of 500 new restaurants over the next decade and more than 7,000 jobs across the business and its supply chain. KFC says the investment is intended to support growth, improve restaurant facilities, and create employment opportunities. The Monks Cross restaurant provides a local example of that wider commitment, combining a new site with recruitment across team member, team leader, and management roles.
The restaurant’s community plans extend beyond its commercial operations. Staff will carry out daily litter picks around the area, while surplus food will be donated to community kitchens through KFC’s partnership with The Felix Project. As franchise networks expand, hiring and training teams become important parts of maintaining consistent service across locations. The Recruitment feature available through Gorilla Dash can help franchise operators organize recruitment information and coordinate staffing efforts as their businesses grow.
