Dave's Hot Chicken has taken a significant step toward redefining the quick-service restaurant experience after being honored with the Overall Award for Franchise Operations and Technology Leadership at the 2025 Franchise Innovation Awards. The recognition celebrates the brand’s ambitious “Dave’s of the Future” initiative, which brings artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation together to create a faster, smarter, and more seamless customer journey.
Launched in June 2024, the program represents a comprehensive transformation of the chain’s operations. Over a two-year rollout, Dave's Hot Chicken plans to integrate advanced technologies across its locations to improve speed, accuracy, and consistency while maintaining the warmth and hospitality that define the brand. Early pilot results have already shown measurable success, including an 8.75 percent reduction in order errors and a 2.1 percent rise in guest satisfaction.
At the center of the project is Chief Technology Officer Leon Davoyan, who has led the effort to connect every part of the restaurant’s digital and operational ecosystem. “While many quick-service brands experiment with innovations in isolation, we designed a system where each technology complements the other,” Davoyan said. “The result is an experience that supports both our franchisees and our guests.”
The “Dave’s of the Future” model includes AI-powered voice ordering, real-time tracking for guests, robotic fryers, and even drone delivery testing. Each element is designed to increase efficiency while helping franchise owners manage labor costs and improve consistency across locations. These technological strides also reflect a broader industry trend as restaurants look for scalable solutions that improve margins without diminishing the guest experience.
For Dave's Hot Chicken, innovation is not a novelty but a strategy for sustainable growth. The initiative’s early results suggest a future in which technology enhances, rather than replaces, the human connection that makes hospitality meaningful. As the brand continues to expand, its forward-looking approach could influence how quick-service franchises balance efficiency with authenticity, setting a new benchmark for the industry.
