Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard is leaning into the arrival of fall with the return of two seasonal favorites, Pumpkin and Apple Butter. The flavors are appearing in four limited-time frozen treats across participating Rita’s locations, giving customers several ways to revisit familiar autumn tastes while the brand expands its seasonal menu beyond traditional Italian Ice. The promotion is part of Rita’s broader effort to create timely menu occasions around the flavors customers associate with the season.
The Pumpkin lineup includes Pumpkin Frozen Coffee, which combines Rita’s signature Frozen Coffee with pumpkin crème and whipped cream, and Pumpkin Pie Concrete, made with vanilla frozen custard, pumpkin crème and vanilla wafers. The two offerings give the familiar pumpkin profile different formats, pairing a beverage option with a more substantial frozen dessert.
Apple Butter takes a similar approach. The Apple Butter Milkshake blends vanilla frozen custard with apple butter flavor and is finished with whipped cream and a cherry, while the Apple Butter Concrete combines vanilla frozen custard, apple butter flavor, vanilla wafers and apple pie topping. Together, the four items give the seasonal campaign two distinct flavor platforms and multiple ways for customers to engage with the limited-time menu.
Carmela Hughley, senior vice president of marketing insights and innovation at Rita’s, said the company views pumpkin season as an important annual occasion for its guests. The seasonal menu reflects that familiarity while allowing the brand to put its own spin on fall through frozen coffee, custard and milkshake formats. Rita’s operates more than 600 shops and describes its Italian Ice as being made fresh daily at individual locations.
Seasonal menu launches can also create operational challenges for franchise networks, particularly when promotions need to be coordinated across numerous locations. Gorilla Dash includes Competitions and Promotions tools that can help franchise teams organize seasonal campaigns, coordinate promotional activity and keep execution aligned across their network. For brands using limited-time offerings to generate renewed customer interest, having a centralized way to manage promotional initiatives can help turn a short seasonal window into a more coordinated marketing opportunity.
