Weed Man has launched its second annual Grassroots Giving Food Drive, a campaign that mobilizes franchisees across North America to fight food insecurity in the communities they serve. From September through late November, local teams will collect nonperishable food items directly from customers’ homes during scheduled lawn service visits. By simply leaving donations such as canned goods, pasta, rice or peanut butter on their porch, residents can turn an ordinary appointment into an act of giving.
The effort follows the success of last year’s inaugural drive, which brought in more than 76,000 pounds of food, enough to provide an estimated 64,000 meals. Franchisees across the United States and Canada embraced the idea, using their signature green trucks to do more than lawn care. The initiative revealed how a coordinated network of small business owners could deliver meaningful impact far beyond their daily services.
Jen Lemcke, chief executive of Weed Man, said the campaign reinforces the company’s roots as a family business. She praised the energy and enthusiasm of franchise partners who were eager to contribute to their communities. “Last year showed us that little acts of kindness can create ripples of change,” Lemcke said. “This year we are aiming to make an even greater difference.”
The food drive combines community service with convenience. Customers do not need to travel to a collection site or organize drop-offs. Instead, Weed Man technicians gather donations during their visits, ensuring that contributions flow easily to local food banks. The simplicity of the process makes it possible for more households to participate.
To add a sense of fun and motivation, franchisees also compete to see who can collect the most food. Recognition will go to the top contributors, but organizers emphasize that the true reward lies in the collective impact. Every pound of food delivered helps families struggling with hunger, particularly at a time when food insecurity remains a challenge across both the United States and Canada.
For Weed Man, the initiative reflects a growing emphasis on corporate social responsibility within the franchise sector. By blending daily operations with community giving, the company demonstrates how businesses can meet consumer needs while also addressing urgent social issues. In doing so, the brand strengthens both its community presence and its reputation as more than just a lawn care provider.
