Tapster has officially launched in downtown Lexington, Kentucky, bringing its innovative self-pour concept to the heart of Bourbon Country. Open since mid-2024, the venue is located directly across from Rupp Arena and has quickly become a local hotspot. Co-owned by Lexington residents Dr. David Swedler, a bariatric surgeon, and his wife Amanda Swedler, a former ER professional and bartender, the Lexington location offers over 50 self-serve taps. These include craft beers, bourbon tastings, cocktails, wine, cider, kombucha, and mocktails, creating an interactive and personalized drink experience.
Guests use a wristband system to pour drinks by the ounce, allowing them to explore new flavors at their own pace. The flexibility and variety have resonated with both locals and visitors alike.
Dr. David Swedler shared, “From day one, we’ve had a steady stream of locals and visitors who are genuinely curious and then hooked once they see what Tapster offers.” The couple’s goal is to cultivate a high-energy, community-focused space that feels both local and innovative.
Tapster’s expansion does not stop in Kentucky. New franchise locations are in development in Denver, Colorado, led by Zac and Meghan Crow, and in Long Island, New York, led by Allison and Megan Dee. Each team is working to replicate Tapster’s signature blend of self-service technology and BYO-food flexibility, with plans to make Tapster a community staple in their respective regions.
With its fresh approach to hospitality, Tapster’s Lexington success story is already setting the tone for further national growth.
