Piccolo Me is stepping beyond its Sydney roots as the family-owned cafe brand begins a deliberate expansion into Melbourne. With more than 40 locations operating across Australia, the company is positioning itself for growth in a city known for its deep coffee culture and competitive dining landscape. The move signals a new chapter for a brand that has built its reputation on community, creativity, and approachable hospitality.
Co-founder Charlie Hachem recently shared that the operational groundwork for Melbourne has been completed, with head office systems in place and supply chains secured. The first two Melbourne franchisees are already trading, and the company is now actively seeking sites in university precincts, industrial areas, and local shopping centres. These locations reflect Piccolo Me’s ambition to reach students and local communities while integrating into the everyday rhythm of the city.
The Melbourne push follows earlier milestones that laid the foundation for broader growth. Last year, Piccolo Me announced the signing of its first Melbourne franchisee, marking its initial step outside Sydney. The brand has also extended its reach internationally, opening its first overseas location in Lebanon, a move that underscored confidence in its concept and franchise model.
While the brand’s expansion is measured, its intent is clear. Piccolo Me aims to bring its signature coffee, vibrant menu, and welcoming atmosphere to new markets without losing the sense of familiarity that helped it grow. Hachem has described the expansion as a chance to take the brand mainstream while remaining true to its origins as a neighborhood cafe.
As Melbourne becomes central to Piccolo Me’s growth strategy, the brand is positioning itself as a gathering place for study sessions, casual meetings, and social moments. For a company that began as a local favorite, the move into Victoria reflects how thoughtful franchising can turn a regional success into a broader national presence.
