Papa Johns is reimagining the way people leave social gatherings with a new menu item designed to be both playful and practical. In collaboration with Uber Eats, the pizza chain has introduced the Papa Dippa, a limited-time offering that encourages customers to “dip out” of awkward situations by sending pizza as a parting gift.
The Papa Dippa is not a traditional pizza. Instead, it is cut into narrow strips to make dipping easier and comes with four garlic-based sauces. The selection includes the chain’s popular Special Garlic Sauce, alongside three new varieties: Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Creamy Garlic Pesto, and Garlic Hot Honey. Priced from $13.99, the item is available nationwide from September 25 through October 9.
Shivram Vaideeswaran, senior vice president of brand marketing at Papa Johns, said the inspiration came from observing how food often plays a role in social dynamics. “Pizza is perfect for all of life’s moments, including the ones you’re excited about and the ones you’d rather skip,” he said. “With Papa Dippa, we are giving people a way to make even awkward goodbyes a little more enjoyable.”
During the promotional window, customers using Uber Eats can order the Papa Dippa as a gift, complete with a personal message. Papa Johns is positioning the campaign as both a culinary experiment and a cultural conversation starter, blending humor, flavor, and digital convenience into one product launch.
For the brand, Papa Dippa represents more than just a limited-time menu item. It reflects a strategy of aligning with consumer behavior and leaning into moments that resonate socially. By transforming the act of leaving early into a memorable gesture, Papa Johns is reinforcing its reputation for playful innovation while strengthening its partnership with Uber Eats.
The Papa Dippa campaign demonstrates how quick-service brands are experimenting with product design and digital platforms to stay relevant. It shows how a simple twist on pizza can become a commentary on modern life, turning exits into opportunities for connection.
