Nando’s Australia and New Zealand has unveiled its first drive-thru restaurant, setting a new direction for the brand with a location at Roxburgh Park in Victoria. This latest opening marks a major milestone in the company's 35-year history in Australia and underscores a growing focus on convenience-driven dining experiences.
To celebrate the launch, the fast-casual chain offered thousands of complimentary meals to guests, highlighting the excitement surrounding this new chapter. The restaurant combines the speed of a drive-thru with the option of dine-in service, catering to a broad spectrum of customer preferences.
Designed with distinctive features, the Roxburgh Park location includes rooftop gardens, grill-side views, Afro-Luso music, South African art, bottomless drink stations, and self-serve sauce counters. These elements aim to deliver an immersive experience that reflects Nando’s vibrant brand identity.
Amanda Banfield, CEO of Nando’s Australia and New Zealand, described the drive-thru concept as a pivotal evolution for the business. With up to 70% of quick-service restaurant revenue now coming from drive-thru channels and 37% of Australian consumers preferring this format, Nando’s is embracing the shift as part of its long-term strategy.
Looking ahead, the company plans to open 25 additional restaurants across Australia and New Zealand in the near future, ultimately aiming for 70 new locations. This growth initiative is expected to create around 1,000 new jobs, with drive-thru formats playing a central role in the rollout.
The launch in Roxburgh Park signals more than just a new store—it represents Nando’s commitment to innovation, accessibility, and a bold expansion plan designed to meet the evolving expectations of today’s consumers.
