KFC has expanded its footprint in Scotland with the opening of its first restaurant in Airdrie, marking the company's 60th location in the country. The new Carlisle Road restaurant welcomed customers on July 6 as part of KFC UK & Ireland's broader expansion strategy, which aims to significantly increase its presence across the region over the coming years. The 249-square-meter restaurant features a drive-thru, seating for 70 guests, self-order kiosks, and one of Scotland's first dedicated Kwench beverage counters.
Beyond serving its signature fried chicken, the new restaurant brings meaningful economic investment to the local community. Approximately 65 jobs have been created across team member, leadership, and management positions, with recruitment continuing as operations expand. Customers can also access delivery through Just Eat, Deliveroo, and Uber Eats, while electric vehicle charging points and modern ordering technology reflect the company's continued investment in customer convenience.
The opening celebrations extend beyond the restaurant itself. During its first week, KFC is rewarding early visitors with promotional merchandise and a Spin to Win campaign featuring menu items and branded prizes. The company has also committed to daily litter-picking initiatives around the site and will redistribute surplus food through The Felix Project, reinforcing its focus on community engagement alongside commercial growth.
Store launches increasingly rely on coordinated promotions to build awareness and encourage early customer visits. Gorilla Dash supports growing franchise systems through its Competitions and Promotions functionality, helping operators coordinate promotional campaigns and maintain consistency across multiple locations. For expanding restaurant brands, well-executed opening campaigns can strengthen customer engagement while establishing momentum in new markets.
The Airdrie restaurant represents another step in KFC's ambitious UK and Ireland investment strategy, which includes plans to open hundreds of additional restaurants over the next decade. As established franchise brands continue expanding into new communities, combining operational investment with localized customer experiences remains central to sustaining long-term growth.
