ERA Group has appointed Marcel Lal as its new Global Chief Development Officer, signaling a renewed push to expand the company’s international franchise network. Lal brings nearly a decade of senior leadership experience from InXpress, where he most recently served as Global Chief Operating Officer and previously led operations across the Asia Pacific region. He will remain based in Brisbane as he steps into the global role.
Over the course of his career, Lal has developed a reputation for operational discipline and strategic growth within the franchising sector. A Certified Franchise Executive, he has also played an active role in industry leadership as a board member of the Franchise Council of Australia and President of its Queensland State Chapter. Those roles have positioned him at the center of evolving franchise policy and development conversations across the region.
Mark Taylor, Global Chief Executive Officer of ERA Group, said Lal’s appointment reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening its development capabilities worldwide. He noted that Lal’s experience navigating complex markets and supporting franchisees at scale will be instrumental as ERA continues to expand across established and emerging territories. The company currently operates in more than 60 countries, providing cost optimization services to businesses across a wide range of industries.
Lal described his transition as an opportunity to join a globally recognized organization with a strong foundation and clear growth ambitions. He pointed to ERA Group’s recent accolades at the Global Franchise Awards as evidence of its standing within the industry. As the company builds on that momentum, Lal’s mandate will center on deepening franchise relationships and accelerating expansion in key markets, reinforcing ERA’s long-held philosophy that franchisee success drives overall growth.
